February is a key period in the wholesale fashion calendar. As retailers and buyers prepare for the spring and summer trading season, trade shows become an important space for reviewing ranges, comparing suppliers, and planning forward purchases.

This year, Vijay Fashions took part in both INDX Woman and Spring Fair at the NEC Birmingham, where we had the opportunity to meet a wide range of wholesalers and high-street retail buyers. Across the two events, we held discussions with dozens of businesses and introduced our collections to over a hundred industry professionals.

What buyers are focusing on in 2026

One of the most consistent themes in conversations this season has been price awareness. Retailers are approaching buying decisions carefully, with a clear focus on maintaining margins while still offering attractive product in-store. Competitive pricing, without compromising wearability and presentation, remains a priority across the market.

Alongside pricing, product quality and origin were key discussion points. Many buyers showed particular interest in our My Italy label, where production is based in Italy. Italian manufacturing, fabric sourcing, and dyeing processes continue to be associated with reliability in finish and fabric quality, which remains an important factor for retailers balancing value with perceived quality.

Seasonal direction: Summer styles at the forefront

Given the timing of the shows, attention was firmly on summer ranges. Buyers were reviewing easy-to-wear silhouettes, breathable fabrics, and versatile styles suited to everyday retail. The focus was less on short-lived statement pieces and more on commercially practical garments that can perform steadily across the season.

This reflects a broader market mood that can best be described as measured and price-focused, but still open to well-designed product that delivers both style and consistency.

The continued value of trade shows

Events like INDX Woman and Spring Fair remain an important part of the industry. They provide a chance to see garments in person, discuss product direction face to face, and build working relationships that go beyond digital communication.

For us at Vijay Fashions, these shows are an opportunity not only to present new ranges, but also to listen — understanding what retailers are experiencing on the shop floor and how their needs are evolving.

As the spring and summer season approaches, we look forward to continuing to support our wholesale and retail partners with collections designed to balance commerciality, quality, and dependable supply.
